Biography

Sara Behbud is an Iranian-born designer whose journey, from Tehran to Milan, weaves a powerful narrative of identity, resilience, and cross-cultural dialogue. The daughter of a tailor, she grew up in her mother’s atelier in Tehran before pursuing a Master’s in Fashion Design in Milan. Today, her work blends Persian heritage with Italian sartorial precision to explore fashion as a form of personal and collective emancipation.

Her first Demi Couture capsule collection, "Donna Vita Libertà", named after the movement born in Iran following the killing of Mahsa Amini, is not only an aesthetic statement but a political one. It was worn on the red carpet of the 2025 Oscars by Mahasa Rostami for the film "The Seed of the Sacred Fig", amplifying the voices of women fighting for justice in Iran.

But Sara’s impact goes far beyond symbolism. Her collection is physically created inside the CMD9 (Centro Milano Donna), a women’s center in Milan. There, she funds and supports Redamare, a project offering tailoring courses to women who are victims of violence and in vulnerable situations. These women are not only learners, but active participants in the creation of her garments.
